City Bank Kicks Off 7th Annual Community Rewards Program

Oct 21, 2014

For the seventh consecutive year, Lubbock and South Plains residents can help their favorite charity secure up to $10,000 by participating in the Community Rewards program sponsored by City Bank.

City Bank will award a total of $50,000 to 10 local nonprofits to assist them in carrying out their missions of hope and service to people in need throughout our city and surrounding area. Any qualifying nonprofit organization is eligible to register and participate.

Lubbock and area residents will determine the gift recipients — one $10,000, five $5,000 and four $3,000 — by voting for their favorite charity online at citybankonline.com. Six $500 “early rewards” will be presented at the Oct. 23 luncheon as well. Persons can vote once per day between Sunday, Nov. 2, and Monday, Dec.15. Votes will be calculated during that period and the 10 winning charities, determined by vote totals, will be announced during the week of Christmas.

Nonprofit agency directors, board members and related personnel will be encouraged to rally their friends and donors to vote to maximize their chance of finishing in the top 10 and receiving a gift. During the past five years, City Bank has awarded $310,000 in Community Rewards to 53 nonprofit organizations in Lubbock and the surrounding area.

“We are blessed to live in a community with so many outstanding and caring agencies, and we are extremely pleased to be able to lend a hand in helping them go about their missions of making a positive difference in Lubbock and the area,” stated Cory T. Newsom, City Bank President and CEO. “Community Rewards is one way we give back and support the caring and dedicated work of our nonprofit agencies.

“The program also builds awareness for a multitude of nonprofits and highlights their services and needs during the holiday season and generates other support.”
